Filmaster for iPhone launched at SXSW
We officially launched Filmaster iPhone app during the South by Southwest weekend n Austin, Texas. Borys Musielak presented it on stage in the AppCircus contest for world’s best new mobile apps. The app is now available for download from Apple’s AppStore.

Filmaster Mobile is a movie check-in and recommendation service that connects cinemagoers living nearby and provides daily-updated top movie suggestions in their area that fit their personal taste thanks to the powerful social recommendation engine. It’s been dubbed “foursquare for film” for its focus on geolocation and personalization.
Filmaster wants to build a lively community of movie lovers by connecting users based on location and movie taste. The check-in feature is especially useful for movie festivals. The participants of festivals anywhere in the world can now easily connect by checking-in to screenings and seeing who else is planning to see particular films. This is helpful for tracking what friends are up to but also for discovering what other people with a movie taste similar to ours are planning to watch. Rating festival movies on the other hand helps generate precise recommendations so that Filmaster users never miss a film worth watching.
Filmaster already enables Twitter or Facebook logins. Foursquare check-in support and TV show check-ins are planned for the next release. Android and Blackberry Playbook apps are also in the works and a new website is planned for May.
We’re pretty excited about the launch and we’re not alone with it. Some mainstream media already covered Filmaster Mobile.
TheNextWeb.com writes:
As a casual cinemagoer who doesn’t keep a constant eye on new releases, I find Filmaster’s personalised recommendations based on nearby screenings are incredibly useful.
