Last of this year’s Eurecan European Venture Contest semi-finals took place this Tuesday, November 23rd in Warsaw, Poland. We’re extremely happy to inform you that FILMASTER team was selected by the international jury of top European venture capitalists as one of the winners of this edition and we’ll be presenting our new mobile product in Dusseldorf during the EEVC final in December!
Filmaster’s EEVC diploma
Company founder, Borys Musielak, presented Filmaster Mobile, a new local film recommendation & community app (meant for iPhones and Android phones) saying that Filmaster’s mission to stop people from watching bad films will eventually come true in January 2011 when the product will be released. In his 8-minutes presentation he explained what Filmaster Mobile is all about:
- instantly getting personalized film recommendations for cinema and TV screenings in your area,
- “check-in” to shows and broadcast this fact to friends on multiple social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare),
- meet other film lovers living in the same area to make watching films a social experience,
- as well as many more features known from Filmaster.com website like reviews, blogs, film rankings and more.
Filmaster Mobile is targeted at European and North American film lovers, mainly those living in big cities. People own over 100 million smartphones in those locations and are crazy about mobile apps (this is where Foursquare rocks!), especially those taking advantage of geo-location to recommend them useful stuff. And Filmaster is both useful and fun to use!
And we are the humblest company on Earth.

So, what happens next?
The selected innovative companies, Filmaster included, will be now presenting in Dusseldorf, Germany on December 6-7th, and best of the best will have a chance to speak during the final event in Barcelona and win the main price: 90.000 euro.
For Filmaster however, the sole fact of being selected as one of the six best startups in Eastern Europe during the Warsaw semi-final by some of the most influential European venture capitalists is a great honor and a remarkable achievement.
We’re planning to work very hard during December and January to bring you the best mobile film app that ever existed and make millions want to try Filmaster and stop watching bad movies once and for all!
